Are you running your life… or is your life running all over you, leaving you covered in nasty, dirty tread marks?
If you’re tired of washing those tread marks out your clothes, know two things: First, you’re not alone. It doesn’t matter how “in control” the people around you may appear, we are all struggling to survive the chaos of life and are all a hot mess in our own way. And second: it is possible to find happiness and satisfaction in this chaotic life of ours… and it’s a lot easier than you might think!
Part road map, part journal, and part pithy prose, this book is a fun and lighthearted approach to helping you get back in the driver’s seat, grab your messy life by the horns, and, over the course of 13 months, wrangle it into some semblance of submission.
Experts say that it takes 66 days to develop a new habit. That’s a little over 2 months which means that over the next 13 months you can develop (drum roll...) 6 NEW HABITS that will, hopefully, put you on a path towards embracing your chaotic life and managing to find contentedness in the messiness. None of these habits are hard, or time consuming, or unachievably unrealistic (is that a double negative?). A few might take a little thought, but it will be worth it. All of them are designed to get you thinking about things, hopefully, a little differently and little more positively. Oh, and there is a fun factor built in, just to keep things interesting, so be sure and stick it out to Habit #6.
Each of the six habit sections include:
- An introduction
- A game plan for how to achieve success
- Suggestions for how to approach it
- Room to record your daily journey
- Prompts to help you think about how it’s going
- Fun graphics, quotations, and stories to entertain you on along the way
What you’ll be working on:
- Gratefulness – An attitude of gratitude is the first step in developing a more fulling life and deeper relations.
- Kindness – This habit is designed to help you be the good in the lives of others. Interestingly, you might discover that by throwing good out into the world, the world will toss some good right back at you.
- Looking for the Good – All of us have people in our lives that drive us a little crazy. Maybe it’s a coworker, a family member, or your significant other. These people are a part of our lives and chances are they aren’t going anywhere. Wouldn’t your life be more pleasant if you enjoyed that person rather than cringed at the thought of having to spend time with them? You can’t change them, but you can change you, so the challenge becomes developing a new and positive attitude towards that person.
- Being Present and Listening - The goal of this habit is to help you become more engaged and develop stronger and deeper relationships with the people around you.
- Task Management – When you have things you feel need to get done, and they don’t, it wears on you mentally, making it hard to relax which can be both mentally and physically exhausting. The goal of this habit is to help you grab hold of all those little (or big) things you want to get done, and get them under control instead of allowing them to run wildly around your life creating mental havoc like little wild banshees constantly screaming in your head at the top of their lungs.
- Spirit of Adventure -There’s an old saying, “Variety is the spice of life”, and this habit is designed to make your life quite spicy!
Remember, the power to choose is yours... are you going to be crazed, or are you going to be happy? So, accept the chaos, embrace the journey, and enjoy the ride!
