I have been a professional writer all of my adult life, but never ever did I say, "I want to be a children's book author." Seriously, never!

That all changed when a friend asked me to put together a picture book for her goddaughter featuring some of my bird photos. As I started working on that first book, gathering photos, adding words, and discovering fun facts, I realized that it was an unexpectedly fun and creative outlet. And, as a businessperson, I felt that there was an opportunity to target an untapped niche of children’s nature books featuring actual photographs of the creatures being described.

This project for my friend evolved into my first children’s book, My Backyard Bird Book. I was having so much fun putting it together that the ideas literally poured out of my head resulting in 4 more books written almost simultaneously: My Bird Scavenger Hunt, My Texas Bird Book, Plumology, and Amazing Birds Book. Since that fateful phone call, I have written a total of 9 children's books and have several new books planned for 2025.

Being a children's book author has proven to be one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of my professional career. ​Our world has an amazing story to tell, and I am thrilled to be able to share some of those stories with you and your children! All of my books and products are created to engage kids and encourage exploration in a way that entertains while educating.

For educators, all of my award-winning books are created with the input of seasoned educators and written to reinforce the terms introduced in elementary science curriculum. Each book has free downloadable activity sheets in addition to educator-created lesson plans.​
